Ministero dell’Interno e Stato Maggiore della Difesa

The unit is involved in the modernization of the telematic infrastructures of the Italian Ministero dell’Interno and the Stato Maggiore della Difesa, comparable to medium-sized national operators (ISPs).

Regione Toscana – Competence center on Internet technologies and the integration of networks and services

Activities:

• collaboration in the relationship between Regione Toscana and companies involved in the development of the Tuscany Regional Telematic Network for the management of the ISP accreditation process to TIX, its adaptation for regulatory changes and/or technological innovations, participation in the dissemination of the objectives and technical aspects of the certification process;
• to promote the use of VoIP technology by exploiting ENUM technology to disengage as much as possible from public telephony operators by continuing to use the E.164 public numbering;
• to promote the use of IPv6, an Internet protocol that allows overcoming the addressing limitations of the current IPv4 protocol (ideal for IoT objects communications on the network)

The development of software tools for the rapid identification of the causes of inefficiencies on LAN networks is also part of the activity.

Rete GARR 

The Computer and Communication Networks Unit covers the role of Access Port Manager (APM) GARR for the telematic network of the CNR of Pisa. An APM is, towards GARR, the technical contact for the office connected to the GARR network.

Dipartimento DIITET CNR

The staff of the technology unit was part of the coordination structure of the “e-Infrastructures” Project Area of the DIITET-CNR Department, also participating as a member of the Editorial team.

We also participated as co-authors of the white paper WHITE PAPER AP4 E-INFRASTRUCTURES, on the topic: “Design, development and monitoring of telematic networks”.
